In an underfunded, overwhelmed public health system, the youngest patients are among the most vulnerable. One of every 20 Pakistani children doesn’t make it to age five, and the vast majority die before their first birthday.
The Childlife Foundation is a group working with hospitals to make sure Pakistan’s babies become Pakistan’s children. We began our reporting last January and followed up once COVID-19 hit—immunization rates were already low in Pakistan and they’ve dropped 25% during the pandemic.
