At its current rate of expansion, more than half of the U.S. workforce will be part of the U.S. gig economy by 2027 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many of those workers find jobs with rideshare giants Uber and Lyft, but a showdown over fair pay in Minneapolis could change industry norms.
